XI'AN, Dec. 12 (Xinhua) -- The daily output of the Sulige gasfield, owned by China's largest oil and gas producer PetroChina, exceeded 100 million cubic meters on Friday, a record high accounting for about one-eighth of the country's daily gas production, according to the PetroChina Changqing Oilfield Co., the gasfield's operator.

Located in the Erdos Basin in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, the gasfield's cumulative gas production has hit 300 billion cubic meters. According to calorific value conversion, that figure can replace 360 million tonnes of coal and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by 240 million tonnes.

It is estimated that the Sulige gasfield's natural gas output will exceed 30 billion cubic meters this year, a net increase of more than 1.5 billion cubic meters from last year. This will play an important role in maintaining the high-quality and stable supply of natural gas in China.
