JERUSALEM, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Some 8,500 athletes from 31 countries and regions on Friday participated in the 45th annual Tiberias Marathon along the shores of the Sea of Galilee in northeastern Israel.
Israel's David Tayachew won the men's race in a time of two hours and 13 minutes, while his compatriot Beatie Deutsch won the women's marathon in 2:41:20.
The winners of the men's half-marathon race were Israel's Olympic runner Haimro Alame and his compatriot Gashau Ayale, who crossed the finish line together in 1:02:38.
The first to finish in the women's half-marathon race was Israel's Irene Or Konovalov with a time of 1:16:32.
The event also included 10km and 5km runs. ■
