DHAKA, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- The "19th Asian Art Biennale Bangladesh 2022", featuring diverse artworks by hundreds of artists, was being held in the capital city of Dhaka.
During the month-long event, which kicked off on Thursday, a total of 649 artworks of some 493 artists from more than 100 countries were being displayed at the exhibition.
Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the exhibition virtually from her official Ganabhaban residence here.
On the occasion, an honorary award was conferred on six artists, while a grand award on three others.
President of the jury board of the event artist Rafiqun Nabi announced the names of the awardees.
Bangladeshi State Minister for Cultural Affairs KM Khalid handed over the awards to the recipients on behalf of the prime minister. ■
