WARSAW, Dec. 6 (Xinhua) -- Most Polish people want access to EU recovery funding even at the expense of peace in the governing coalition, according to a poll published by Rzeczpospolita daily on Tuesday.

The European Commission (EC) has blocked Poland's access to its post-pandemic recovery fund due to changes made by the country to its judicial system, which the EC says infringe on the independence of judges.

Poland will only regain access to the funds if it reverses these changes to meet certain rule-of-law conditions set by the EC.

In the survey conducted by polling company IBRiS on behalf of Rzeczpospolita, almost 66 percent of respondents said the government should meet the conditions even if it means a rift between Law and Justice (PiS), the dominant party in Poland's ruling United Right coalition, and its junior ally Solidary Poland.

Solidary Poland, led by justice minister Zbigniew Ziobro, opposes making any concessions to the EU. PiS, on the other hand, has pursued a more conciliatory approach.

Meanwhile, 16.5 percent of the survey's respondents were against making concessions.

IBRiS ran the computer-assisted survey on Dec. 2-3 on a sample of 1,100 people.
