PanaSea Global, the first sea cucumber aquaculture company in Panama, eyes China as a key market, as Chinese consumers' demand for sea cucumbers is rising.
The company is currently welcoming its first harvest of sea cucumbers.
Panama's Minister of Agricultural Development Augusto Valderrama visited the company on Friday, stressing the possibilities of increasing commercial relations with China.
PanaSea Global expects to start exporting small amounts of Panamanian sea cucumbers at first, to be followed by larger volumes in the second quarter of next year.
According to Panama's aquatic resources authority, the country has favorable environmental conditions for sea cucumber cultivation.
More and more aquaculture farms in Panama plan to cultivate sea cucumbers in the next year.
