KABUL, Dec. 5 (Xinhua) -- Afghan forces have arrested a foreign national on charge of involvement in attacking Pakistan's embassy in Kabul on Friday, chief spokesman of the Taliban-run caretaker government Zabihullah Mujahid said Monday.

"The personnel of special units of the forces of Islamic Emirate have arrested a foreign national and member of Daesh (Islamic State) group who opened fire on Pakistan embassy last Friday," Mujahid said on his twitter account.

"Investigations have indicated that the Islamic State outfit and the rebels jointly chalked out the attack to create distrust between the two neighboring and brotherly countries of Pakistan and Afghanistan," the official said.

Mujahid didn't reveal the nationality of the arrested man.

Gunshots by unknown armed men on Pakistan's embassy in Karta-e-Parwan locality in the Afghan capital city last Friday injured a guard of the mission but head of the mission escaped unhurt.

The hardline Islamic State (IS) group, which has claimed responsibility for some bold and deadly bomb blasts in Afghanistan over the past one year, also claimed responsibility for the attack on Pakistan's diplomatic mission.
