BEIJING, Dec. 2 (Xinhua) -- Nine inductees across three categories were confirmed for the 2022 China Basketball Hall of Fame on Friday.

Mu Tiezhu, Hu Weidong, Liu Yudong and Wang Zhizhi, all formerly the backbone of China's national team between the 1970s and 2010s, are China Basketball Hall of Famers in the male players category.

Zheng Haixia, who became the first Chinese player to be inducted into the FIBA Hall of Fame in April 2021, leads the female players' list, which also includes Song Xiaobo and Cong Xuedi.

Jiang Xingquan and Xu Limin are selected into the China Basketball Hall of Fame as coaches.

The 2022 China Basketball Hall of Fame selection started in July, featuring three stages: nomination, introduction and final review.

According to the Chinese Basketball Association (CBA), around 600 Chinese basketball-related people were nominated for the Hall of Fame. A 16-strong candidate list was announced after the first two stages and handed over to the Final Review Committee to decide the final inductees.

The CBA said that newly-announced inductees will enter the China Basketball Hall of Fame with 15 tenured inductees and a collective comprising the "outstanding new China basketball 50".
