The Djibouti Luban Workshop, a vocational training program jointly implemented by China and Djibouti, is helping build a local talent pool for the railway industry in the African country.
Aisha Abdoulkader Abdallah is among the first batch of enrolled students at the Djibouti Luban Workshop. She is working on an internship program at a station on the Chinese-built Ethiopia-Djibouti railway.
The workshop was established in March 2019. It offers majors such as rail transport operation and management to cater to needs in Djibouti's transportation industry.
The workshop in Djibouti, as well as about a dozen of others set up in Africa over the years, has offered different majors and courses tailored to the workforce needs of various African countries.
