ISLAMABAD, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan recorded 40 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours, the Ministry of Health said on Thursday.
According to data released by the ministry, the overall tally of infected people climbed to 1,575,226 across the country after adding the fresh cases.
A total of 30,632 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with one more death recorded on Wednesday, according to the ministry's statistics.
On Wednesday, 6,828 tests were conducted throughout Pakistan, and the positivity rate stood at 0.59 percent.
There are 29 patients in critical condition. ■
