KABUL, Dec. 1 (Xinhua) -- A total of 13 militants have laid down arms and surrendered to local authorities in Afghanistan's eastern Panjshir province, said a statement of the provincial administration released on Thursday.
At a welcoming ceremony held in Panjshir, the provincial governor Mawlawi Mohammad Mohsen Hashimi said that the "door of Islamic Emirate is open for everyone" who gives up fighting and surrender to the administration.
The 13 militants were associated with the resistance group against the Taliban administration. ■
