MANILA, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines reported 918 new COVID-19 infections on Wednesday, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 4,036,277.
The Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases dropped to 18,043, while 21 more patients died from COVID-19 complications, raising the country's death toll to 64,641.
Metro Manila, the capital region with over 13 million people, tallied 306 new cases.
The Philippines reported its highest COVID-19 single-day tally of 39,004 new cases on Jan. 15. The country, with a population of around 110 million, has fully vaccinated over 73.7 million people.
The Philippines has tested over 33.66 million people since the viral disease emerged in the country in early 2020. DOH data showed that RT-PCR testing in the Philippines has significantly declined since the first Omicron wave in January this year as people shifted to antigen tests. ■
