MACAO, Nov. 30 (Xinhua) -- A total of 494,000 guests checked in Macao's hotels establishments in October, up 11.3 percent year on year, the special administrative region's statistics department said on Wednesday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service showed that guests from the Chinese mainland rose by 15.0 percent year on year to 390,000 while the number of local guests went down by 11.1 percent to 70,000.
The average occupancy rate of guest rooms in October dropped by 3.0 percentage points year on year to 41.8 percent, showed the report.
In October, visitors joining local tours leaped by 324.3 percent year on year to 3,100. The number of Macao residents purchasing outbound services, such as booking transport, accommodation and sightseeing tours, through travel agencies surged by 65.8 percent to 5,900.
A total of 118 hotel establishments offered accommodation services to the public in October, an increase of two year on year. The number of available guest rooms rose by 2.5 percent to 37,000, showed the report. ■
