GENEVA, Nov. 24 (Xinhua) -- Volleyball player Alexander Butko of Russia has acknowledged taking a prohibited substance in a competition in 2014 and accepted a ban from the International Volleyball Federation (FIVB), world volleyball's governing body announced on Thursday.
Trimetazidine was found in Buko's sample taken during an in-competition test on April 30, 2014, during the Russian National Volleyball Championships.
FIVB imposed a 15-month sanction starting on January 1, 2022 and ending on March 31, 2023. ■
