SANAA, Nov. 21 (Xinhua) -- A landmine blast injured 12 people, including nine children, in the At Tuhayta District of Hodeidah province, western Yemen, Houthi-run al-Masirah TV reported on Monday.

The television quoted local authorities as saying that the tragedy occurred on Sunday, adding that the victims have been transferred to local hospitals.

Save the Children, a non-governmental organization, said in a report on Saturday, one day before World Children's Day, that a total of 92 children have been killed by warfare in Yemen since the beginning of 2022, adding other 241 children injured during the same period.

A total of 201 children died and 480 others were wounded due to the country's conflicts in 2021, according to a report from the United Nations.

Yemen has been mired in a civil war since late 2014 when the Iran-backed Houthi militia seized control of several northern cities and pushed the Saudi-backed Yemeni government out of the capital Sanaa.

Last month, the government and the Houthi group failed to extend a six-month national truce that expired on Oct. 2, raising concerns about the return of violent conflicts to the Arab country.
