RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Santos have appointed Odair Hellmann as their manager on a one-year contract, the Brazilian Serie A club said on Wednesday.
Hellmann replaces Orlando Oliveira, who had filled the role on a caretaker basis following the sacking of Luiz Lorenzi in September.
The 45-year-old's managerial career includes spells in charge of Brazilian top-flight clubs Internacional and Fluminense. He was also an assistant coach for the Brazil team that won the gold medal at the 2016 Rio Olympics.
His last coaching position was with Dubai-based Al Wasl, with whom he partied ways in June.
Eight-time Brazilian Serie A champions Santos finished 12th in the 20-team Brazilian top flight standings this year with just 12 wins from 38 matches. ■
