MACAO, Nov. 16 (Xinhua) -- Restaurants and retail businesses in Macao grew in September as compared with the previous month, the special administrative region's statistics service said on Wednesday.
The latest report from the Statistics and Census Service (DSEC) indicated that the revenue of the interviewed restaurants and similar establishments went up by 13.4 percent in September from that in August with all the interviewed dining businesses registering a growth.
Meanwhile, sales of the interviewed retailers grew by 23.1 percent month on month in September.
However, on a year-on-year basis, all the interviewed restaurants and similar establishments registered a fall in revenue. Sales of the interviewed retailers went down by 11.3 percent.
For the Business Outlook Index (BOI) that reflects the trend of month-on-month changes in revenues, the values for restaurants and similar establishments and retail trade were both higher than 50, indicating that the respondents from both industries expected a better business outlook in October compared to September.
As regards the business expectations for October this year, 34 percent of the interviewed restaurants and similar establishments expect their revenue to increase month on month. ■
