NEW DELHI, Nov. 14 (Xinhua) -- At least 15 workers were feared to be trapped under the debris after a stone quarry collapsed Monday in India's northeastern state of Mizoram, officials said.

The incident took place in Hnahthial district, about 178 km south of Aizwal, the capital of Mizoram.

"Preliminary details available with us suggest that this evening 15 workers were trapped after a stone quarry collapsed in the Hnahthial district. The workers were working with ABCI Infrastructure Private Limited," Zosangzuali Pachuau, joint director of the department of disaster management and rehabilitation told Xinhua over the telephone.

Authorities have rushed rescue teams to the spot to trace the trapped ones.

"Along with the workers some excavators and other drilling machines are reported to have been buried under the debris," Pachuau said.
