SURABAYA, Indonesia, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- Two Indonesian cities, Tanjung Jabung Timur in Jambi province and Surabaya in East Java have been newly accredited by the Ramsar Convention as international wetland cities.
The wetland ecosystem in a city is utilized as a pathway for a sustainable urban future by purifying water to filter out sediments, nutrients, wastes, and some pollutants, which is beneficial to the urban ecological environment and health of the citizens.
