RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 10 (Xinhua) -- Marcos Keno scored two first-half goals as Atletico Mineiro cruised to a 3-0 home win over Cuiaba in Brazil's Serie A championship on Thursday.
The 33-year-old fired home from inside the six-yard box in the fourth minute and doubled the lead just before halftime with another close-range shot after an Eduardo Vargas pass on the counterattack.
Vargas added a third goal with a right-footed shot into the bottom right corner just before the hour.
The result leaves Atletico Mineiro seventh in the 20-team standings, having accumulated 55 points with one match remaining. Cuiaba are 16th with 38 points.
In Thursday's only other Brazilian Serie A fixture, Lucas Fernandes scored in each half as Botafogo won 3-0 at home to Santos. Francisco Soares was also on the scoresheet for the Rio de Janeiro outfit. ■
