RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Alef Manga struck a second-half goal as Coritiba guaranteed their place in Brazil's Serie A championship next year with a 1-0 home win over Flamengo on Sunday.
Manga converted from the penalty spot just before the hour after Diego Ribas brought down Regis Salmazzo.
The result leaves Coritiba in 15th place, seven points clear of the drop zone with two matches remaining.
Flamengo, who have lost their past two league matches, fell to fifth in the 20-team standings.
In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Sunday, leaders Palmeiras - who have already secured the title - drew 1-1 at Cuiaba and Atletico Goianiense drew 1-1 at Fortaleza. ■
