WARSAW, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Dawid Kubacki became the first Polish ski jumper to win two opening competitions of the ski jumping World Cup, as he stood on top of the podium in Wisla on Sunday.

After winning Saturday's International Ski and Snowboard Federation (FIS) event, the bronze medalist from the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics continued his momentum the following day.

In the first round, the Pole jumped 130 meters to take the lead. But it was too early to celebrate as Anze Lanisek from Slovenia earned just 1.2 points less with a jump of 131.5 meters. Japan's Ryoyu Kobayashi was third with 128.5 meters.

Lanisek handled the pressure to jump 131 meters in the final round but Kubacki was unstoppable. His leap of 133.5 meters allowed him to take the crown for the second time in Wisla. Norwegian jumper Marius Lindvik took the bronze behind Kubacki and Lanisek.

Kubacki now sits first in the ski jumping FIS World Cup classification.

"I knew I was in good shape and was able to perform very well, but in sport nothing is for sure. To be honest, I didn't expect to win two competitions here in Wisla. Each position in the top 10 would be good for me," Kubacki said.
