LIVERPOOL, Nov. 6 (Xinhua) -- Japan's Hazuki Watanabe took the women's beam gold at the 51st Artistic Gymnastics World Championships here on Sunday.
Watanabe, 18, performed a solid routine to finish on top with 13.600 points, the same score as she registered in the qualification, where she placed fifth.
Elsabeth Black of Canada came second with 13.566 points, while Watanabe's teammate Shoko Miyata was third with 13.533.
China's Ou Yushan, who had led the qualification with 13.900 points, fell from the beam in the final and only managed a sixth-placed finish with 13.000 points.
Newly-crowned all-around world champion Rebeca Andrade from Brazil also fell midway and had to settle for eighth. ■
