China on Monday launched the space lab module Mengtian, taking the construction of the country's space station Tiangong into the final stage.
The solar panels of Mengtian, covered by 150,000 small pieces of new-generation special glass, have to withstand the extreme environment of outer space.
The special glass was developed by a Qinhuangdao-based manufacturer in north China's Hebei Province.
According to the manufacturer, the new-generation special glass is 20 percent lighter than its predecessor.
