MANILA, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- The Philippines reported 776 new COVID-19 infections on Friday, pushing the number of confirmed cases in the Southeast Asian country to 4,007,318.

The Department of Health (DOH) said the number of active cases dropped to 18,085, while 32 more patients died from COVID-19 complications, pushing the country's death toll to 64,211.

Metro Manila, the capital region with over 13 million people, tallied 157 new cases.

The DOH has reported less than 1,000 new cases across the country for the fourth day.

Health Undersecretary Maria Rosario Vergeire said the number of COVID-19 infections in areas on the main Luzon island and Mindanao in southern Philippines continues to experience a downtrend.

The Philippines reported its highest COVID-19 single-day tally of 39,004 new cases on Jan. 15. The country, with a population of around 110 million, has fully vaccinated over 73.5 million people.
