WASHINGTON, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- The Golden State Warriors slumped to a third straight defeat after losing 116-109 to the Miami Heat in the NBA on Tuesday.

Stephen Curry had a triple double for the Warriors, with 23 points, 13 rebounds and 13 assists, but it was not enough to lift Golden State up.

The match was hotly contested before Miami finally pulled clear in the closing stages of the fourth quarter.

"I thought we played well enough to win but we didn't close it out. I give Miami credit, they stifled us in the last five minutes," Warriors coach Steve Kerr said.

Max Strus led Miami with 24 points while Jimmy Butler added 23.

Zach LaVine scored 20 of his 29 points in the fourth quarter, leading the Chicago Bulls to a 108-99 victory over Brooklyn in the Nets' first match after a coaching change.

The Nets announced Steve Nash was out earlier in the day, with interim coach Jacque Vaughn taking over on the sidelines, but it did not help the Nets, with the team blowing a 12-point third-quarter lead.

Kevin Durant had 32 points and nine rebounds for the Nets, but Kyrie Irving managed only four points on 2-for-12 shooting, and missed all six 3-point attempts.

DeMar DeRozan added 20 points and Ayo Dosunmu had 17 for the Bulls.

Elsewhere on Tuesday, the Phoenix Suns notched their fifth straight victory with a 116-107 win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, while the Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Orlando Magic 116-108.
