ALGIERS, Nov. 1 (Xinhua) -- Algeria held a large-scale parade in the capital on Monday to commemorate the 68th anniversary of the start of the Algerian revolution.
After a century of rule by France, Algeria became independent on July 5, 1962. However, its national holiday is on Nov. 1, when the country celebrates the Revolution Day of 1954.
Since the country is hosting the Arab League summit on Tuesday, this year's celebration was held a day earlier on Monday.
