WASHINGTON, Oct. 22 (Xinhua) -- Serbian star center Nikola Jokic had a triple-double of 26 points, 12 rebounds and 10 assists to help the Denver Nuggets beat the Golden State Warriors 128-123 on Friday.

Stephen Curry scored 34 points with five 3-pointers, but the Warriors committed 18 turnovers that led to 30 Denver points.

Denver erupted for 70 first-half points, including 40 in the first quarter, but the Warriors never gave up and pulled within only one point at 124-123 with 14 seconds remaining after Jordan Poole's steal and layup.

The Nuggets stayed composed as a length-of-the-court pass from Jokic set up a dunk for Bruce Brown. Jokic then secured the win by converting two free throws.

Damian Lillard scored 41 points as the Portland Trail Blazers beat the Phoenix Suns 113-111 in overtime for their second straight victory to open the season.

Jusuf Nurkic had 20 points and 17 rebounds while Anfernee Simons added 16 points for Portland. Devin Booker led Phoenix with 33 points.

The Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant scored 49 points in a 129-122 victory over the Houston Rockets.

Houston once led by 16 points in the second quarter, but Morant led a resurgent Memphis in the second half for a comeback victory.

Elsewhere, Kevin Durant and Kyrie Irving combined for 57 points to help the Brooklyn Nets claim a 109-105 win over the Toronto Raptors, while Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown both hit top form to lead the Boston Celtics past the Miami Heat 111-104.

In other games, the New Orleans Pelicans got past the Charlotte Hornets 124-112, the San Antonio Spurs beat the Indiana Pacers 137-134, the Atlanta Hawks defeated the Orlando Magic 108-98, the Washington Wizards edged the Chicago Bulls 102-100, the New York Knicks overcame the Detroit Pistons 130-106, and the Utah Jazz powered past the Minnesota Timberwolves 132-126.
