CAIRO, Oct. 21 (Xinhua) -- The Arab Parliament (AP) demanded on Friday an immediate intervention from the international community to end the strict siege imposed by Israel on the occupied Palestinian city of Nablus.
"The above ten-day siege led to severe deterioration of economic conditions in Nablus in the northern occupied West Bank," the legislative body of the Arab League said in a statement.
The AP deemed the siege as "a blatant violation of all international laws and norms," noting the tragic conditions of the people in Nablus necessitate decisive and immediate actions by the international community, it said.
The Israeli army has imposed a strict siege on the city of Nablus since October 11, blocking the city's entrances with military checkpoints.
The siege came in the wake of a shooting attack carried out by the Lion's Den group near Nablus, in which an Israeli soldier was killed on October 11. ■
