BEIRUT, Oct. 18 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese-Kuwaiti Businessmen Council was established in Lebanon on Tuesday to help the country's businessmen, especially those in the private sector, expand their business in Kuwait.

The council was founded by Beirut's Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture with the goal of fostering cooperation and partnership between the two countries' private sectors, said Mohammad Choucair, chairperson of the chamber, in a written statement.

Choucair praised the depth and strength of the Lebanon-Kuwait ties, stressing that Kuwait has been and will continue to be at the forefront of countries that support Lebanon and the Lebanese on all levels.

There has been "a lack of effort" in helping Lebanese businessmen in Kuwait, an important trading partner of Lebanon, said Hassan Dargham, a member of the newly established council, adding he hoped the council can help bridge the gap.
