NEW DELHI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- A fighter jet belonging to the Indian Navy crashed into the sea off the coast of India's southern state of Goa on Wednesday, an official statement said.
The pilot ejected safely from the aircraft and was subsequently rescued.
"An MiG-29K fighter aircraft crashed over sea on a routine sortie off Goa coast after it developed a technical malfunction while returning to base. Pilot ejected safely and was recovered in a swift search and rescue operation," the Indian Navy said in a statement.
It added that the pilot is reported to be in a stable condition and a Board of Inquiry (BoI) has been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident. ■
