RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo returned to the top four of Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday with a 2-1 away victory over relegation-threatened Cuiaba.
Matheus Franca opened the scoring for the visitors with a 58th-minute strike and Marinho doubled the lead by converting a penalty just after the hour.
The hosts pulled a goal back when Rafael Gava netted in stoppage time.
The result leaves Flamengo fourth in the 20-team standings with 52 points from 31 games, 14 points behind leaders Palmeiras, who have a game in hand. Cuiaba are 17th with 30 points.
In Saturday's only other Brazilian Serie A fixture, Corinthians won 2-1 at home to Athletico Paranaense. ■
