MEXICO CITY, Oct. 8 (Xinhua) -- Ecuador international winger Angel Mena has been ruled out of Club Leon's Liga MX playoff against Cruz Azul on Saturday because of a back injury.
The 34-year-old, who has been capped 40 times for Ecuador's national team, suffered the injury in Leon's 2-2 home draw with Club Tijuana in the last match of the regular season last Sunday.
Leon sporting director Rodrigo Fernandez said Mena was left out of the squad that traveled to Mexico City on Saturday after missing training sessions on Thursday and Friday.
The winner of Saturday's clash at Estadio Azteca will earn a place in the quarterfinals the following weekend.
Club Leon finished the regular season in 10th place with 22 points from 17 games, two points behind seventh-placed Cruz Azul. ■
