PHNOM PENH, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Cambodia and Cuba signed on Tuesday two more agreements on boosting bilateral cooperation in the areas of sports and culture, a Cambodian senior official said.

Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and visiting Cuban Prime Minister Manuel Marrero Cruz presided over the signing ceremony of the documents after their meeting at the Peace Palace here, said Eang Sophalleth, a personal assistant to Hun Sen.

Sophalleth said the two prime ministers during their meeting agreed to further promote relations between the two countries and exchanged views on regional and international issues of common concern and interests.

"Samdech Techo Hun Sen highly spoke of Cuba's success in researching and manufacturing COVID-19 vaccines and asked Cuba to consider promoting cooperation with Cambodia in the field of health," he told reporters after the meeting.

Marrero arrived in Phnom Penh on Tuesday afternoon for a three-day official visit.

His trip to Cambodia came just days after Hun Sen paid an official visit to Cuba from Sept. 23 to 25, during which the two sides signed memorandums of understanding (MoUs) on cooperation in the areas of health, education and diplomacy.
