BEIJING, Oct. 1 (Xinhua) -- The total assets of China's securities firms reached 10.59 trillion yuan (about 1.49 trillion U.S. dollars) at the end of last year, according to a report.
China counted 140 securities companies at the end of 2021, with 41 listed on the Shanghai and Shenzhen bourses, the report from the Securities Association of China said.
The combined revenue of the firms climbed 12.03 percent year on year to 502.41 billion yuan last year, while profits jumped 21.32 percent from a year ago to 191.12 billion yuan.
The sector's profitability continued to improve in 2021, with its return on equity reaching 7.44 percent, 0.61 percentage points higher than that of the previous year, according to the report. ■
