CARACAS, Sept. 17 (Xinhua) -- Veteran Sampdoria midfielder Tomas Rincon, Everton forward Salomon Rondon and Santos playmaker Yeferson Soteldo have been included in Venezuela's squad for friendlies against Iceland and the United Arab Emirates, the South American country's football federation said.
Vinotinto manager Jose Pekerman also named uncapped quartet Teo Quintero, Jean Fuentes, Emerson Ruiz and Cristopher Varela in his 27-man squad.
In addition, Pekerman recalled Caracas FC pair Alain Baroja and Juan Pablo Anor, both of whom have not represented their country since 2020.
Venezuela will meet Iceland in Austria on September 22 and the United Arab Emirates in Abu Dhabi five days later.
The Vinotinto are currently 56th in the FIFA world rankings while Iceland are 63rd and the United Arab Emirates 69th. ■
