ISLAMABAD, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- Pakistani Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Ahsan Iqbal has urged the country's academia and industry experts to play their role in bringing innovation in various fields.
Addressing the launch of the Innovation Support Project in Islamabad on Thursday, the minister emphasized the importance of innovation in Pakistan to get desired results.
He said that innovation depends on a country's socio-economic conditions, administrative structure, culture, and education system.
Iqbal stressed the need for research and critical thinking in every field, adding that academia and industry experts must support the public sector in adopting innovation in efforts to strengthen the ecosystem of innovation in Pakistan.
The Pakistani government is implementing the Innovation Support Project to identify factors that lead to effective innovative regulatory processes, and to create awareness of the importance of innovation for enhancing quality and productivity in national development, according to the planning, development and special initiatives ministry. ■
