RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Brazil national team manager Tite could rejoin his former club Corinthians next year, according to media reports in the South American country.
Tite has made public his desire to leave the Brazil national team after this year's World Cup and Corinthians have made the 61-year-old their prime target to lead their first team in 2023, the Lance news outlet reported on Wednesday.
It added that preliminary talks could begin in the coming weeks between Corinthians directors and Tite's representatives.
Tite, who has been in charge of Brazil since August 2016, has publicly expressed an interest in seeking a managerial position in Europe following his tenure with the five-time world champions.
However, Corinthians are hoping to use his close ties with the club to convince him to remain in Brazil, reports have said.
Tite has had three previous spells in charge of the seven-time Brazilian top-flight champions: in 20042005, from 2010 to 2013 and in the 2015-2016 season.
His achievements with the Sao Paulo-based club include the 2011 and 2015 Brazilian Serie A titles, the 2012 Copa Libertadores trophy and the 2012 FIFA Club World Cup crown.
Corinthians are currently managed by Portuguese coach Vitor Pereira, whose contract with the club is due to expire in December. ■
