BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Guangzhou City head coach Li Weifeng has put his side's run of two consecutive wins down to an improvement in defense.
Guangzhou City ran out 1-0 winners over Guangzhou FC on Tuesday to pull off two wins on the trot after Li took charge in late August.
"My team did better in defending as a unit," Li said.
"I should have improved their attack too. As I have been in charge for too short a time, all I could do was make my team's midfield and defense more compact."
"My players' physical conditioning is still not at the level required," he added.
Guangzhou City currently sit second from bottom of the Chinese Super League table with nine points, six points away from safety.
"My side is still in a difficult position. Though we won today, we did not get out of the relegation zone," Li said.
"Tomorrow we need to put this win behind us and look forward to the next game," he added. ■
