SANTIAGO, Sep. 13 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo midfielder Arturo Vidal and Marseille forward Alexis Sanchez will headline Chile's squad for friendlies against Morocco and Qatar, the South American country's football association said.
Manager Eduardo Berizzo also called up Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Charles Aranguiz, Blackburn Rovers striker Ben Brereton and Bologna defender Gary Medel.
But there was no place for veteran Real Betis goalkeeper Claudio Bravo or Atletico Mineiro forward Eduardo Vargas.
Chile will meet Morocco in Barcelona on September 23 and Qatar in Vienna four days later.
Berizzo has said he will use the matches to begin preparations for the 2026 South American zone World Cup qualifiers, scheduled to begin next March.
Chile are expected to add South America-based players to the 18-man list in the coming days. ■
