TEHRAN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Iran's Judiciary said on Tuesday it has identified some suspects linked with the assassination of Hassan Sayyad Khodaei, an Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) colonel, according to the semi-official Mehr news agency.
The Iranian Judiciary Spokesman Masoud Setaieshi said at a weekly press conference that thorough preliminary investigations have been conducted with regard to the case.
He added "such acts of terror are normally perpetrated by terrorist networks" and thus diligent investigations are required, the results of which will be announced as soon as achieved.
Describing the case as classified, Setaieshi said a number of individuals linked with Sayyad Khodaei's assassination have been identified and legal warrants have been issued in this regard.
He expressed hope that the country's intelligence and security forces would arrest the main perpetrators behind the act as soon as possible.
Sayyad Khodaei was shot by two motorcyclists in his car in the downtown street of Tehran on May 22, state TV reported. ■
