BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Brunei recorded 3,244.1 million Brunei dollars (2,311.3 million U.S. dollars) in total trade for June 2022, a 62.5 percent year-on-year increase.
The latest International Merchandise Trade Statistics released on Tuesday by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics at the Ministry of Finance and Economy showed that Brunei's exports increased by 61.1 percent yearly to 1,775.1 million Brunei dollars, which was mainly due to the increase in mineral fuel exports.
Mineral fuels also recorded the highest contribution to total exports (76.2 percent) with a value of 1,352.0 million Brunei dollars, followed by chemicals at 21.3 percent.
Imports increased by 64.3 percent year on year to 1,469.0 million Brunei dollars for June 2022.
The highest share of exports in June 2022 went to Malaysia at 30.7 percent, followed by Australia at 14.4 percent and Singapore at 12.6 percent.
The highest share of imports came from Malaysia at 23.7 percent, followed by the United Arab Emirates at 22.9 percent and Iraq at 10.1 percent. (1 Brunei dollar equals about 0.71 U.S. dollar). ■
