VIENTIANE, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- A Chinese movie show and the Mid-Autumn Festival evening were held in the Lao capital Vientiane on Friday by the China Cultural Center in Laos.
Chinese Ambassador to Laos Jiang Zaidong and Lao Deputy Minister of Information, Culture and Tourism Vansy Kuamua attended the event, along with other Lao officials, college students and Chinese in Laos.
During the event, guests watched a short movie which tells the story of a girl football team in the rural area of southwest China's Chongqing Municipality.
On the occasion of the Mid-Autumn Festival, which falls on Saturday this year, the guests enjoyed performances prepared by the China Cultural Center in Laos, the Lao National School of Performing Arts, and the National University of Laos. The guests were also introduced to Chinese calligraphy, mooncake-making and Chinese tea.
Also, a special Chinese-Lao bilingual art performance program, produced by China's northeastern Liaoning Province, was played at the event, and will be broadcast on Lao TV Saturday night.
The Mid-Autumn Festival, a Chinese traditional festival that symbolizes family ties, is celebrated on the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar when the moon is full and bright. ■
