SAO PAULO, Sept. 9 (Xinhua) -- Brazil's vehicle production grew 43.9 percent in August year on year, the National Association of Automotive Vehicle Manufacturers reported on Friday.
According to the report, 237,961 units were manufactured in August, compared to 165,330 in the same month of 2021.
Automotive production in Brazil, Latin America's largest economy, increased 8.7 percent in August compared to July.
Meanwhile, 46,793 vehicles, including cars, trucks, buses and agricultural machinery, were sold abroad in August, up by 58.9 percent from the same month last year.
"For the first time in a year and a half, we managed to operate without any factory completely shutting down in August," said Marcio de Lima Leite, president of the association. "The flow of semiconductors has finally started to improve, although we are still going through a supply restriction phase."
Leite said the market in general performed well in August, with sale orders of 209,000 units, the best in 19 months. ■
