BEIJING, Sept. 10 (Xinhua) -- Here are the latest Chinese sports headlines over the past week:
1. Gao Zhidan elected as new Chinese Olympic Committee president

Gao Zhidan (5th L) was elected as Chinese Olympic Committee president on Sept. 7, 2022.
Gao Zhidan was elected president of the Chinese Olympic Committee (COC) by a secret ballot at an extraordinary meeting on September 7.
Gao, director of China's General Administration of Sport, succeeds former COC president Gou Zhongwen.
2. Jeremy Lin joins Guangzhou Loong Lions

Former NBA champion Jeremy Lin has signed a contract with the Guangzhou Loong Lions to play in the new Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) season, the club said on September 5.
Lin logged 11.6 points, 2.8 rebounds and 4.3 assists in his NBA career. The Harvard graduate became a global sensation in 2012 during his time with the New York Knicks, in a period known as "Linsanity." He became the first Asian-American to win an NBA title with the Toronto Raptors in 2018. Lin joined the Beijing Ducks in 2019 and averaged 19 points in two CBA seasons.
3. Sichuan wins its first national women's basketball title

Sichuan celebrated after winning the Chinese National Women's Basketball Championship, on September 9.
Sichuan outplayed Jiangsu 91-81 to claim its first title at the Chinese National Women's Basketball Championship in Guangyuan, Sichuan Province, on September 9.
After registering three lop-sided victories in group matches, title favorite Sichuan continued its momentum to eliminate Shanxi in the quarters and Inner Mongolia in the semis.
Led by the Most Valuable Player Wang Xuemeng, who achieved all-around stats of 23 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and four steals in the final to claim its historic national championship.
4. New CBA season to kick off in October

The first stage of the 2022-23 Chinese Basketball Association (CBA) regular season will take place in Hangzhou, east China's Zhejiang Province in October.
According to an announcement released by the league's governing body on September 10, the first phase of the upcoming regular season will be played in a championship format with nine rounds of matches scheduled between October 10 and 30.
5. China's basketball team reflects on pains, gains after two-month overseas campaign

After an unprecedented experience of training and competing overseas for over two months, China's national men's basketball team surely has something to reflect on.
Departing from their homeland in late June, China played FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers in Australia and Kazakhstan, the FIBA Asia Cup in Indonesia, and trained in Spain and France in between.
Head coach Du Feng chose to look at the team in a positive light, as he rated his side's campaign eight out of 10 overall.
