WASHINGTON, Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Four people died and three others were wounded after a series of shootings believed to have been committed by a male shooter around Memphis, the U.S. state of Tennessee, on Wednesday, authorities said Thursday.
Ezekiel Kelly, the 19-year-old male, was taken into custody after a high-speed chase on Wednesday night.
On Thursday morning, Memphis Police Chief Cerelyn Davis told reporters that investigators are "actively working these crime scenes now, and numerous felony charges are pending."
The shootings began in the early hours of Wednesday and continued through the evening, leading to a shelter-in-place order for part of Memphis as police were looking for the gunman.
At least one of the shootings was said to have been streamed on a social media platform.
"This is no way for us to live, and it is not acceptable," Memphis Mayor Jim Strickland said. ■
