WUHAN, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- The harvest of a kind of giant hybrid rice has started in Lianghu Village of Jiayu County in central China's Hubei Province.
The rice variety, developed by a team of agricultural experts from the Chinese Academy of Sciences, can grow to 1.8 meters to 2.2 meters tall.
It is cultivated to be high-yielding, drought-tolerant, and resistant to disease and waterlogging.
