PARIS, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- French women's top flight club Paris Saint-Germain on Friday announced the arrival of Chinese international Li Mengwen after the full back joined the capital outfit on loan for one season.
Li started playing football in 2006 at the age of 11 with the Suzhou club before joining Jiangsu LFC three years later. Gerard Precheur, the current head coach of the PSG women's team, was in charge of the Jiangsu team between 2018-2019 as Li was in the squad which won the 2019 Chinese Women's Super League.
"PSG are delighted to announce the arrival of Li Mengwen," the French team said in a statement on Friday. "The club would like to wish Li a warm welcome and a successful spell in the Parisian shirt."
Li made her senior international debut in August 2018 at the Asian Games in Jakarta, Indonesia, where she won the silver with the national team. The 27-year-old also helped the Steel Roses surge to the title at the Asian Cup earlier this year.
PSG have ranked second behind Lyon in the French women's first division for four times in the past five seasons, except for in 2020-2021, when they overthrew Lyon's dominance to claim their first league title. ■
