YANGON, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar's State Administration Council (SAC) on Friday said that a YouTube-like video sharing and live streaming platform MTube is being tested in the Southeast Asian country in order to combat fake news.
"MTube live streaming platform, developed by Myanmar national experts, is now in a testing stage," said the council in a statement, adding that it will be launched soon.
Union Minister for Information U Maung Maung Ohn held a meeting with the developer company on the creation of MTube in Nay Pyi Taw on Thursday.
The decision on creating a new video sharing platform came after some SAC statements were restricted and removed from social media, he said, adding that the restricting and removing of their statements on social media are an act of bullying using technology. ■
