BERLIN, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Ruthless RB Leipzig eased into the German Cup second round after Timo Werner's hat-trick and Andre Silva's brace paved the way for an 8-0 win over lower league side Teutonia Ottensen on Tuesday.

Visitors Leipzig took the reins from the starting whistle whereas Ottensen kept all their men behind the ball.

The hosts were able to keep Leipzig at bay until the 19th minute before Emil Forsberg's perfectly timed through-ball allowed Werner to break the deadlock from inside the box.

Werner remained in the thick of things and doubled the advantage with the next attack when Silva teed up for the German international.

Ottensen couldn't hold the pace while Silva got his name on the scoreboard in the 40th minute after finishing off Werner's pass into his path.

Werner wasn't done with the scoring and wrapped up his hat-trick three minutes later after completing a combination via Forsberg with a low shot from ten meters.

The Red Bulls continued on the front foot after the restart as Silva shrugged off one defender before drilling the fifth goal into the roof of the net in the 53rd minute.

Domenico Tedesco's men showed no mercy while Ottensen couldn't put up resistance, allowing Forsberg, Christopher Nkunku and Dani Olmo to round off the 8-0 away rout in the second half.

"The result is too high. In the beginning, we were able to neutralize Leipzig's quality. However, with the double strike our resistance was broken. Leipzig is a top team. I am still proud of my team," said Ottensen head coach David Bergner.

"We played very fast and took business very seriously today. All the players staged a faultless performance," said RB Leipzig head coach Tedesco.

On Wednesday, Viktoria Cologne encounter German giants Bayern Munich to conclude the German Cup's first round.
