CHENGDU, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- A court on Tuesday sentenced Song Liang, former vice governor of northwest China's Gansu Province, to life in prison for accepting bribes.
Song was deprived of his political rights for life, all of his personal property was confiscated, and his illegal gains from bribery were recovered and turned over to the state treasury, according to the intermediate people's court of Leshan City, Sichuan Province.
He was found guilty of taking advantage of his former positions in Inner Mongolia and Gansu between 2000 and 2020 to assist others in the establishment of village banks, obtaining loans, job adjustment, business operations and other matters, in return for which he illegally accepted cash, equity and real estate worth approximately 79.68 million yuan (11.6 million U.S. dollars) in total. ■
